Gustavo Dantas wins in Japan

The Rickson Gracie International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Cup took place in Hamamatsu, Japan on June 28th, 2009. The event promoted by the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Japan, brought 700 competitors to the Hamamatsu Arena. Arizona was well represented by the Vice-President of the AZSBJJF, Gustavo Dantas, who won the Black Belt/Adult/Light weight division.More pictures at www.gdjiujitsu.com

The GD JIU-JITSU Events in association with the Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZSBJJF) is proud to announce the Arizona Brazilian Jiu-jitsu State Championship 2009. The competition will take place on July 11 & 12 at the Westwood High School located at 945 W. 8th St. in Mesa, AZ 85201

Gracie Mag will be covering the event.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition will offer kids, juveniles, Adult (Male and Female), Masters and Senior Divisions.

Registration

. Each competitor must fill out the registration form online. The Pre-registration fee is $50 for the adults and juveniles (16-17 yrs) or and $35 for the kids division until July 3rd. After this date,$60 for adults and juveniles and, $45 for the kids.

KIDS Division is limited to 200 Competitors.

Juvenile, Adult, Masters and Senior Divisions are limited to 350 competitors.

1st AZ BJJ Kids Cup Results

The 1st Arizona Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids Cup took place at the Broadway Recreation Center in Mesa, Arizona on April 25th. The event promoted by GD Jiu-Jitsu Events, in association with AZ State BJJ Federation, was sponsored by Forever Fighter, Custom T-Shirt Warehouse, OTM Fight Shop, Gracie Magazine Association and Arizona Combat Sports. The event was dedicated to competitors between ages of 4 and 17 yrs old and was a great success with its debut at 163 competitors.

4th AZ Open of BJJ Results

On February 21, 2009, the Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZSBJJF) hosted the 4th AZ Open of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The tournament took place at the Westwood High School in Mesa, AZ. Featuring over 400 competitors representing Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Maryland and over 1000 spectators, the 4th AZ Open was a success.

The day started out with the kids divisions with there being 140 young competitors. All the schools represented themselves very well, and the team scores became very close. The team winners of the kids division were:

Mistake at the BJJ Division

We made a mistake at the BJJ Team Results. Team Rey Diogo/De Brazil took 3rd place with 54 points. We had listed BJJ Revolution with 53 points. Good job Martin Escobar!

11th AZ Grappling Challenge Results

Over 300 athletes competed at the 11th Arizona Grappling Challenge on October 26th of 2008 in
Mesa,Arizona. The tournament was sponsored by: OTM Fight Shop, Living Canvas Tattoo, Custom T-Shirt Warehouse, Extreme MMA Training, Home Saving of America, DPR Realty, One Stop Nutrition and, Arizona Combat Sports. The event was promoted by the Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
