Steve Rosenberg received his black belt from Gustavo Dantas on June 10th. Rosenberg, Gustavo’s fifth Black Belt, won the 2009 Pan Am and took 3rd place at the 2009 World Championship at the Brown Belt/Light Weight Division.

GD Jiu-Jitsu Events will be sponsoring a Food Drive for the United Food Bank at the 2009 AZ BJJ State Championships. During these difficult times, it is important to be thankful for the things that we have by coming to the aid of those who are in need. Take this opportunity to practice the importance of helping others.
Our last Food Drive brought in 124 pounds of food. That’s 97 meals! We hope to top these numbers!

The AZSBJJF sent two of its certified referees to work and represent at this year’s Pan-Ams in Carson, CA. Chris Lopez, a black belt, and Jacob McClintock, a brown belt, both under Gustavo Dantas.
The GRACIE Magazine Association has added another member to its network of Jiu-Jitsu promoters. Black belt Gustavo Dantas is the professor responsible for the Nova Uniao Arizona school, in Tempe,AZ.
Dantas comes from the linage of Andre Pederneiras and Fernando Cruz. He has some big titles in competitive Jiu-Jitsu, such as Brazilian champion, world champion and more. He has competed in the ADCC Submission wrestling competition. For more info, go to gdjiujitsu.com.

Wellington “Megaton” Diaz took second place at Feather weight/Black Belt/Adult Division on February 1st. Megaton defeated two opponents but, he lost in the finals against World Champion,Mario Reis.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion, Abu Dhabi Absolute Champion and MMA Veteran Roberto “Spider” Traven will be hosting No Gi grappling clinics for both youth and adults at the Lion’s Den in Scottsdale Arizona on December 6th 2008. “We are privileged to have such a decorated champion hosting BJJ clinics at Lion’s Den Scottsdale. Traven is a 5th Degree Black Belt and his professional career in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA is remarkable.

The Arizona State Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation will be bringing Rubens Charles (Cobrinha) to Megaton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a seminar on September 27, 2008. Cobrinha is a three time World, two time World no-Gi and two time Pan American Gold medalist, along with many other major titles. The cost of the seminar is $50 per person and will take place from 11:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 10880 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix.
